Summary:
A rollout fails for organisational reasons far more often than technical ones. This role is the part that is not the software: understanding how the customer works today, deciding what to change and what to leave alone, training the people who will use it, and staying long enough to see adoption hold. You will be the person the customer calls, and the person engineering hears the truth from.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Rollout
- Plan and run implementations from kickoff through to adoption.
- Map current processes before configuring anything.
- Manage migration, cutover, and the fallback if cutover goes wrong.
2. The customer
- Hold the relationship with sponsors and with the people doing the work.
- Train users and leave documentation they will actually open.
3. Back to product
- Bring real usage problems back to engineering and design with evidence.
